Sunday, May 18
Sunday was spent at the beach playing with the boys new friend Billy. After that we packed up and started the long journey home. We left the condo at 4:20 to go to the Airport Kahului and then flew to Honolulu (45 minutes) with a four hour layover before getting on the plane for Vancouver at 11:00. This was a 5.5 hour flight that brought us in a 7:30 Vancouver time and then at 9:00 we left for Calgary to arrive home at 11:30 Calgary time. All in all, a very long return flight with very little sleep. The boys did great and are ready to go again!
This is as close to a great sunset as we got in Hawaii.

Saturday May 17th
Today as our shopping day and we went up to Lahaina and checked out some of the stores there. The highlight of this road trip for the boys was going to Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon we went to the pool and actually met up with a friend of Randy's that plays on his normal soccer team that had originally been supposed to come here in March and then they had a death in the family, so it was a surprise to meet up with them. They have a six year boy as well, and we ended up having dinner with them at their condo and then the boys were catching huge frogs (maybe they were toads) in the dark in the grass on the condo grounds. They were anywhere from 1 inch in length to about 6 inches. They had so much fun...but didn't get to sleep until 10:30 - so a really grumpy Brady is in our midst today! I am not looking forward to the overnight trip home.

Friday May 16
Today was an awesome day. We went on a kayaking snorkeling tour in Makena Bay. We saw and swam with at least 10 sea turtles. Sometimes we were close enough to reach out and touch them. It was so neat! I hope that our pictures with the waterproof camera that we bought turn out. After that we checked out Big Beach which is south of Makena Bay, then we hung around the condo and pool, then went to Fred's Mexican Restaurant for Margeritas (the boys had lemonade), calamari (okay, so I didn't eat it) and tortilla chips.
The boys are starting to get grumpy..... might be time to start thinking about getting into the old routine!

May 15 - Thursday
Thursday was an awesome day. We spent the morning at Kamamole Beach III across from our condo. The sand is awesome, the water blue and who knew that the snorkeling was incredible as well. There is a coral reef at the north end of the beach that was full of great fish. In the afternoon we went to Waihe'e Valley. This was a incredible hike two miles in that lead through rain forest with lots of bamboo, ferns and other tropical plants growing in it. We got to cross two hanging bridges and cross a few other streams by jumping from rock to rock. At the top were some man made falls that the boys played in. It was a great hike and I am really proud of the boys for making the four mile round trip.

Wednesday May 14, 2008
Our trip to the top of Haleakala was surrounded with fog and clouds. The winding road full of switch backs was a slow trip in the thick fog. When we finally arrived at the top of the mountain there were little breaks in the fog and cloud that allowed us to see a little bit into the valley and see the volcanic and red rock. However, it wasn't really a day to hike in the National Park. Aaron got a little motion sick on the way down and had to get out to touch land so he didn't throw up. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool.

Tuesday May 14
Todays excitement involved going for a snorkel tour to Molokini Crater. We went out on a 55 foot catamaran for a trip that took us to the famous crater where we snorkeled around. Even Braden who has been hesitant to try snorkeling (I think because he doesn't like the idea of being in the water with the fish - because he certainly is a fish in the pool and has no problem putting his head in the water) had a floaty that I could pull him around on that he could see through where his face was. There was also a glass bottom in the boat that the boys could go into and look at the fish. The boys loved being on the boat and all the marine life that they saw. We let Kevin rent a underwater digital camera and take some pictures.

Monday May 12
Today we spent the morning at the Beach across from our resort. The boys enjoyed swimming and playing in the water and also looking around the rocks for marine life including small fish, crabs and sea anenomes. Compared to yesterday afternoon where it was very windy, the water was really calm, so not really a time to practice their boogie boarding skills. The afternoon was spent at Maui Ocean Center Aquarium which was awesome. The boys ran from exhibit to exhibit telling us "Come see this!" We actually cooked a real meal in our condo using the BBQ in the courtyard.

May 11 - Mothers Day - Maui
Today we travelled to Maui. Our condo is awesome. It is so nice to be out of the small 1 bedroom place that we were staying and to be a an actual resort, not in the middle of a big city. We walked along the beach and it was very windy in the afternoon. We went to the Tiki Hut for dinner and then stocked up on groceries and the boys had a swim in the pool.

Videos from winning game
It is good to win! A great way to end the Oahu portion of the trip! Tomorrow we head to Maui.
Final Game photos
Friday May 9
As we liked Hanauma Bay so much, we decided to go back there on Friday morning. The snorkeling was great although we didn't get lucky and see a sea turtle again. The boys buried themselves in sand with some friends that they found (actually from Calgary). After that Randy played the Germans again and again it was a 0 - 0 tie. With their record and a default win that they got over the Hawaiin team, because one of the Hawaiin team members was not wearing their wristband that you get when you register for the tournament, Randy's team is in the final on Saturday morning. After the game, we had ice cream again at Coldstone creamery which is a really expensive place for ice cream, but it is really good. After that we went to the pool again for a bit and then out to a Mexican restaraunt for supper. Kevin came shopping with me on main drag of Waikiki beach and to the International Shopping Market, but we didn't see anything that we needed to buy.

Thursday May 8
Thursday was a slow day for us after the big day travelling the island. In the morning hit the beach again, but are learning that 11:00 is not the best time to go as it is low tide and knees get scraped on the coral and rocks when boogie boarding. Randy played soccer against the Argentina team and they won 4 - 0. After that we headed back to the condo and had dinner in the condo and watched a movie for some down time as the kids were getting on each others nerves.
