That's a wrap!

It was sad when Oma, the Bevan's and Letkeman's went home on Thursday night. We had ice cream cake number 1 for Braden's birthday and he got the early birthday bumps. On Friday morning Janice and I got up early and went snorkelling, as I had to have one more chance to swim with the turtles. If only I could have gotten in the water with the dolphins. We had birthday cake number 2 for Braden's actual birthday with the Krafts and the Huszti Rae family. Sadly then we left Hawaii for the over night trip home. Kevin and Aaron never sleep at all on the trip, the goofy boys.

Thurs April 8

This ones for you Brenda!

Crash and burn!

"What am I" asks Braden!

Lets see, where were we! Wed morning was another beach morning. Lead by Engineer Gavin, the boys made an awesome sand castle. In the evening we headed up to the Royal Lahaina for a Luau. It was awesome. The kids and I went up on stage to learn how to do the Hula dance. The rest of the adults are a bunch of party poopers.
Thursday the brave ones learned to surf. I can't believe that I agreed to go surfing after my experiences with the dead surfers as a Nuc Med Tech in California, but Carmen said she would go if I went. Kevin is totally hooked! Which scares me, as our waist deep water was pretty mild...but this just gave Kevin the taste for bigger and better waves.

Thursday the excitement was surf lessons for the more daring. Carmen said if I went she would, so despite the fact that I swore I would never surf, I am a certified surfer. Unfortunately I think that we wetted the appetite for surfing, so the harmless surfing that we did today has created a monster in Kevin and he will NEED to surf every time we go on a hot vacation. Today Oma, the Bevans and Letkemans are going home and the Krafts and us only have one more day! Sadly it is coming to an end and we must go back to the winter in Calgary!

Apr 6 - an awesome day

Today we went to Lanaii on a sailing trip. We saw whales and dolphins. Too cool! The snorkelling was awesome. There was a turtle that we saw before we got in, but I couldn't find him when I was snorkelling. Fish were awesome. Then we stopped on the island for lunch and a play on the beach. They had really big waves and the kids loved it. Braden and I checked out the tide pools. On the way back the boys loved sitting up on the front of the catamaran and getting splashed by the waves. Finished the evening with pizza in Lahina and currently the kids are out playing truth or dare. Not sure how I feel about that!

Sat April 3

Easter Gecko

April 4/10

Today the Easter Gecko visited us in Hawaii. Braden decided it couldn't be the Easter Bunny because the treats were not in plastic easter eggs and he didn't get a normal Easter Basket. Inside his Easter bag, was a chocolate Gecko, not a bunny. He did complain that the Easter Gecko doesn't put as much stuff in the basket as the Easter Bunny. Gavin, Janice and Danielle appeared here yesterday so we spent the afternoon at the pool, after the morning at Big Beach. 21 of us went for Easter dinner, okay Mexican dinner at Freds. Awesome margeritas, so I didn't even miss the turkey!

April 3

April 3
Spent the day with the Bevan's today. Beach day in the morning and then off to the lava fields for a hike on the south shore of Maui. It was an excellent hike, even though we left the water in the van. It is neat to see all this volcanic rock every where you go. Awesome scenery. Brad lost his wedding ring yesterday in the ocean, and today the metal detector guy found a needle in the haystack! A miracle I believe. He was so upset that it went missing, but today he got it back!

April Fool's Day

April 1st we went on our kayaking and snorkeling trip in the morning. We saw a few turtles, but not as many as 2 yrs ago when we went. In the afternoon we went over to the beach again and Aaron showed us how he has mastered the skim board. On Thurs afternoon, Kevin and Braden decided to have a fist-a-cuff and ended up not being allowed to go to the beach. So Aaron went with the Krafts and practiced up. In the evening we had a great BBQ with the big group down in the court yard. The boys showed the Bevans and Letkemen's how to catch toads. The security guard then pointed out to them, that in big doses the toads can actually be poisonous, which took some of the thrill out of the hunt.
Friday, April 2nd we spent the morning at the beach and then took Oma to Lahaina for some shopping. The boys hate it when we do "family" activities and they are separated from their friends! We did visit the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. which the boys enjoyed. As I write this the boys have gone across the street to go "crab-huntin" in the dark with everyone.
